On May 28th, 2024, Ladi Maji Foundation spearheaded a series of impactful events across three schools in Nigeria to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day. These events, held at Community Secondary School Kabusa in Abuja, Narayi Government School in Kaduna, and Government Secondary School Giring in Jos, aimed to educate young girls about menstrual hygiene and provide them with essential knowledge and resources to manage their periods effectively.

Abuja: Community Secondary School Kabusa

The event at Community Secondary School Kabusa in Abuja kicked off with an introduction by the Head of School, Mrs. Ruth Samuel. The General Manager, Mr. Panjiel, and the team then introduced the guest speakers for the event, Dr. Daniela and Nurse Zina.

Nurse Zina conducted an informative session on menstrual hygiene, covering important topics such as best practices, dos and don’ts, and a demonstration on how to use sanitary pads. The students actively engaged and participated in the session, asking insightful questions about managing heavy flow and addressing common myths. As a token of support, each girl received a free pack of sanitary pads, concluding the event with expressions of gratitude from the Head Girl and school officials.

Kaduna: Narayi Government School

In Kaduna, Narayi Government School witnessed a similar vibrant celebration for World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The event commenced with a student-led prayer followed by an introduction by Mrs. Blessing Maji and her team. Dr. Theresa Moses then led an interactive session highlighting the importance of the day and educating students on menstrual hygiene practices.

The Q&A session was a lively engagement where both students and teachers actively participated, enhancing the learning experience. The distribution of sanitary pads by the Ladi Maji Foundation team brought immense joy to the students and teachers, who expressed their gratitude through memorable photographs and videos, capturing the essence of the celebration.
